Your Story Matters.
No two birth experiences are alike. No two approaches to motherhood are completely identical. Our stories are so deeply personal and so immensely matter.
I say this because we are re-birthed in the process of birthing. We find out new things about ourselves that can surprise and scare us. Motherhood shines light on aspects of who we are that otherwise might not have been seen.
Motherhood is amazing and challenging like nothing else. If you’re reading this and thinking “I have a story to tell about my experience,” then tell it. When you tell your story, it unites you with others who have also been there in some way. At the end of the day, we all just need somebody to say, “I hear you. I’m with you.”
If you’re struggling with motherhood, reach out to people who are willing to hear and hold your story without trying to fix it.
Oh, and by the way, maybe make an appointment with a therapist. I cannot say this enough: you do not have to have a diagnosis to seek help. Having a hard time is enough.
Happy Maternal Mental Health week! Go celebrate by kissing your baby, taking a long walk alone, making a therapy appointment, or telling your story. You matter!
